 Lost my domain, Never use them again

I registered and owned a Chinese IDN name xn--5m4ay5d.com (goldsilver.com) via aplus.net. I used their auto-renewal feature and thinking everything should be fine, like any other hosting company. 15 days before the expiration date, they sent me email and confirmed the auto-renewal was on, asking me to make sure the credit card information was current -- it was. Nothing happened for 45 days, and then I received another email from them telling me the renewal failed (no details) and the domain would be deleted. I asked for explanation but they could provide none. As a result I lost the domain due to some stupid error they had with their renewal program. I was so sick of them and moved everything out of this sh*thouse and never used them again. I considered suing them but in the end decided it's not worthy of my time.

We have been using aplus /codero for dedicated hosting for a few years, and whilst we were not overly impressed by there support capabilities and lack of knowledge they did deliver out of the box solutions ok. However real problems came when we decided to move to another host. We have tried to cancel the account for 3 months and been ignored. Still we have been unabled to cancel and are being billed. we have had to take this up with Visa Credit Card Disuputes. So Beware!!!

I have had Aplus for over 5 years and finally I am pulling the plug. Their service is horrible. Every other week they change the outgoing and incoming hosting settings and emails go down. You can't run a full time business with this hosting server.

APlus did their so-called upgrade and TOTALLY messed up my site. The site did not work, I had to delete the old site and re-do it in another format. They screwed up all the scripting and NEVER got it fixed. Now they have just screwed up another one. Call and you are placed on hold for 25 minutes each time and NO ONE ever calls you back….STAY FAR, FAR away..they are horrible since September 2009. I am actually considering legal action to recoup some of the cost of custom scripting they screwed up which cost me quite a bit.

Aplus sucks. I mean they really really treat their customers really really poorly and the quality of their services is HORRIBLE! I chatted with them online where they say they will do this and that then they don't. So you email them a copy of the chat and they say conctact legal dept. Then the legal dept ignores you. If anyone is part of a class action lawsuit count me in!

This hosting vendor needs to improve customer service. Oct 23, 2009 they sent a message that migration would be done from Oct 24-30. Accounts being migrated were put under lockdown, with no ftp access, and limited access to tools. Notification was sent less than one day in advance. Notification was sent to the account, not to the emails for that account. The master acct/pswd was locked, as well as ftp access, making the msgs inaccessible. This is not the first time this

Aplus is a nightmare. STAY AWAY. They have limited or no technical expertise and the customer service is abysmal. I have been trying to get an MX record altered for more than 3 weeks and they still cant figure out how to accomlish this 3 minute change. These people are god awful.

Our account was sold by Aplus.net to Hostopia without our knowledge. Since then, we have faced so many problems and issues trying to keep our website up and running. Hostopia's customer service center is staffed with generic call screeners who will issue you a work number, then never get back to you. Occasionally your issues get resolved, but they don't bother to check back with you to see. No idea how many hours we have wasted on the phone trying to fix the problems Hostopia and Aplus.net created. Now we are trying to get an explanation on a bill they sent us, but no one there seems to know what it is for. I would recommend you avoid them both.

My website was hosted by Cedant for 5 years and we were never hacked. I moved the site to APLUS servers after they bought Cendant because there was a price difference. In four months my site has been hacked 3 times. I have changed passwords on all accounts and the hacking continues. In addition, support is terrible - all they do is defend why service or billing is wrong. I am particularly angered by tech support's lack of ability to help and then sending the specific clauses from the services agreement stating they are not responsible for ...

I am an x Aplus.net employee and I can tell you that they fuck up all customers BIG TIME ! There are rarely prior suspension notices besides there are uncountable number of problems going in the background that are 100% depending on Admins that are constantly scratching their balls and nothing is working as it should. The billing is one hell ! If you do not trust me just look at your invoices online or for fun call the support and you can die laughing because event they won't clearly understand it LOL never the less Unlimited is NOT unlimited in matters of traffic etc. For quick example I can tell you that you have CPU and and DB CPU time usages that are NOT MENTIONED AT ALL and someone with some dynamic site is simply doomed. Streaming etc is also going to exceed your CPU usage time real quick not to mention DBs. The only thing that is worth it in my opinion is some Dedicated Servers but ONLY if you know how to operate with them. Do Not Count on FREE support for Dedicated Servers ! That is for sure !

Apparently they don't have any record of me canceling...so why haven't I received any contact from them in over three years regarding an outstanding balance?  Aplus.net Shared Hosting Service is Suspect

So what do you do when you have HTTP 500 server errors? Look at the Apache error log in your logs directory, right? Well, you don't have access to them with Aplus.net -- nor do the Tier 1 support people you talk to. So when these errors are ubiquitous and spurious, you are screwed. Tier 1 reproduces one error, logs it, someone up the chain looks at it once and the page loads and the case is closed. And so you repeat your call -- no joy -- and the cycle is repeated again and again. The totality of the problem is never investigated by anyone who knows their ass from a hole in the ground. I'm about done with this firm. I have bumped my issue up the line and I'll see what happens. I'll report back either way, but until then, unless you just want to host a few static HTML pages, I'd look elsewhere.

Bad points: Many bad points: (1) this company overcharges, on multiple occasions and I had my card blocked by my bank (2) I gave up some domains and 1 year after they wanted to charge me for renewal (3) despite my reclamations and complaints, I wasn't able to solve the overcharges and the other scams (4) unfriendly staff (5) disorganized company: staff don't know their own rules, everyone says something else, one doesn't know what to believe (6) they put Google ads on hosted sites, which as I know is not permitted by Google (7) very complicated system: payment complicated, complicated accounts, disorganized website Good points: NONE! Then on Sat 12/1, they decide to move all servers to another facility. 1 week later, endless calss and emails later, and my dedicated server is still down. I\\\'ve had a dedicated server with Aplus for 1.5 years. I need to get a new host. They have serious outage problems and they will never tell you. As I write this, my server has been up and down for 3 hours with 25-75% packet loss. How did I find out? By doing my own monitoring. No contacts, not updates, no details, nothing... This has happened 3 times in the last two months. Customer support is terrible. Constant equipment failures too. Don\\\'t be like me. Its the height of the Christmas shopping season and my server is down... Stay away from Aplus.net

I have shared and dedicated with them. My sales rep told me i was outgrowing my shared service, After slling me a epro pack he put me on dedicated. Thats when the Sh*t hit the fan, They put me in an ADMIN only panel called plesk. Its great for setting up sites but sucks from a webmaster point of view. I am lost in a sea of confusion. And god forbid if i ask. one tech mmanager offered help and then i get a phone call from the VP saying im bothering him. Whem it was him generating the questions. Now they want 150.00 an hour for tech support. So im leaving-im screwed for shared-prepaid. and i can live with that-althought there forums software allows spammers and porno hackers. their salesman told me they accepted adult website on Dedicated servers! I get a dedicated server and pre-paid for one years, after 2 months their abuse center close my site and told me that's because adult content on my website! I request some time to transfer my files to another server and refund my money, they didn't give me any time, and told me they don't have refund in dedicated servers! I forward the emails that their sales guy was told me adult sites are OK in aplus dedicated server and they just refund me for 4 months! their support really sucks. they just talk to you when you are going to buy or pay something!

Problems with this host include their website interface and, above all, customer support. The interface is user-unfriendly, does not allow you to block cookies or pop-ups, and is generally slow. Customer service is usually available, but the staff does not seem well trained, the quality of the phone connection is always poor, and the accents of the people on the line are so difficult to understand that I get the strong feeling I'm not talking with someone located in the US. I came to this site looking for a new host after I experienced an e-mail outage for about 24 hours, due to a glitch in the A-Plus subscription renewal process that was never adequately explained to me. This is completely unacceptable; I would not recommend this provider.

This is by far THE WORST hosting company I have ever encountered. I am a web developer who has worked with many different hosts- and aplus.net is a complete disaster. Their control panel is not user-friendly, but beyond that, it's their technical/customer support that is completely useless and unprofessional. I wish I had saved the transcript like some others have done- so I could post it here. They are so rude, it's unbelievable. They have no knowledge of what they are doing, say they are going to email you something, and never send it. I have never been treated more unprofessionally and as rudely as I have by the "live chat" workers at aplus.net. STAY AWAY! My client is switching hosting companies as we speak. They have been nothing but a complete nightmare. However, if you like being treated disrespectfully, they might be the one for you.

I have been very happy with the Aplus hosting. Though my site is rather small, primarily just a family site with photos, they were very helpful when I set up the site. At one point, I had problems getting Frontpage extensions to work on the site. Their folks were very helpful and responded quickly via email. My only complaint would be the lack of MySql in the Solo XR plan that I have. Otherwise, highly recommended. (I have not experienced any downtime or other issues mentioned in other reviews).

I ordered a domain name on A Plus (www.aplus.net) on the 27th July 2005. During online checkout, I chose to pay with a check. On their confirmation page, there was only the mailing address where I should mail the check, but not how much my total was! It didn\'t mention any other fees. Later on I received an email from A Plus stating I could pay by check, but that I would have to pay an extra $5 processing fee! And once again my total balance was nowhere to be found. I had to call their toll free number to find out my balance. I spoke to someone at their call centre in India, and no offence, but I had a really hard time understanding what he was talking about. I foresaw that I might have a hard time communicating with them if they overcharged in the future. So I requested to cancel my order. Wish me luck...

I created an account with APlus.net to create a web page for myself. Because of time constraints with school and work, I was unable to use the space. I contacted them when my year was up and told them that I would like to not continue the use of their service because I did not have time to create and maintain a site. Weeks later I was billed the renewal cost for the site. I then spent weeks in phone calls and e-mails trying to get the money refunded to me. That was over a year ago. For the last week or so I started getting e-mail saying that my domain was about to expire and if I didn\'t contact them it would not renew and be cancelled.
