All was fine I had until I ran a program to create a site map - They suspended my site even withput calling me or finding out anything - All they were interested in doing is selling me a dedicated service - Lets this serve as a WARNING TO THE WORLD If you want to be bitten by a SBAKE go ahead & Host with Hostgator I should call them Host snake coz they WILL bite you it took 7 emails & 5 calls to rectify an inocent situation - BUYER BE AWARE YOU WILL GET BURNED IF YOU HOST WITH THEM JUST A MATTER OF TIME

Hostgator wasted 5 days and did not even get the server I ordered working.
I really hate to dis a company but if it helps someone looking for a dedicated server who is considering Hostgator they might want to check out some other companies.
Either the support and tech staff are overworked or they just dont give a sh*t
Stuff like not listening or reading tickets has a tendency to 'try' anyones patience.
Anyway, in the time it took for them to process the cancellation I had another server up and running with no problems.
I wish someone posted a comment like this for me to read before I made the mistake with these guys.Lost $5000 in 5 Days

Reliability, quality, top-notch support are all things you should have in a host, and after being with HostGator for a year, they've got it all. Their support is without a doubt the best from any host I've ever seen or heard of including telephone support almost 24 hours a day! I called their support number so many times and every time someone would answer the phone right away. Their owner Brent was always very patient and tried his best to help me if there were any problems. I highly recommend them to any newcommers out there looking for a great host. They're also in the NAC.net datacenter in Newark, New Jersey which has proven to be one of the best in my opinion.
After a year of being with them I've had to leave to find a cheaper host because I don't have a regular job, and because most of the sites I host under my reseller account are for free I couldn't afford the luxury of HostGator.

Have been with hostgator.com for almost one year now and must tell you my experience with them. I have never had any kind or problem with them and the support works great. I think it's better to choose a host where you are not locked for 12 or 24 months by paying in advance. So my suggestion is to go with a host where you only pay monthly. Thank you hostgator.com! Hi all, I am a customer of Hostgator since the end of July 2004, having my 1st reseller account (2Gb disc space, 50Gb BWT) and I think the time has come to post a short review of this hosting company.
The registration process for my account was quite simple and easy and the speed of setting up my account was very speedy (about 20 mins!).
I hosted about 15 websites of our customers and up to now I have not received even one complaint about their sites/emails. Their uptime was excellent (almost 100%) although I did noticed some rare speed problems (about 7-8 times within 3 months).
We had no problem using WHM/Cpanel and the Messenger/Email support was very fast and helpful, although I guess that specifically Messenger staff sometimes acts like intermediate to the tech staff for almost all major questions (I guess that's normal).
I have also called 3-4 times (mainly to ask some presales/upgrade questions) and the telephone was answered very promptly, with no waiting time. I remember one time calling very late at night (due to time difference it was morning here) and still their suport was there and effective.
The only suggestion that I would like to make is to be a little more helpful when speaking on the phone. This does not mean in any way that they were not polite but the feeling that I am receiving when I call them is a little negative - with very short answers and not much explanations until you ask for them - or not as much friendly as I would like to be (maybe that's my opinion as I am not a native English speaker).
Anyway, I just signed up for my 2nd reseller account and the experience was very positive for one more time! They offered the 1st month for free as I asked and they set it up within 10 mins. And when I sent an email to the sales department (after 5 mins that I signed up for the 2nd account), asking for a free upgrade of my 1st account, they replied within 3 mins that the upgrade to 5Gb was already done! Pretty amazing I think...
Overall I must admit that Hostgator has proved to be the best hosting experience I've had for the last 4 years that I host my sites. They can certainly work a little more on the support experience the customer receives, but this does not mean you will have any unanswered questions or delays. It's nice to sleep calmly at nights and not be afraid whether your sites will be online and a technical team will seriously take care of them if needed. Hostgator is there for me...
If you are thinking of a reseller hosting provider - not the cheaper one but certainly cost effective and of high quality - then Hostgator should be included in your short list for sure. Best regards, Aris " - aris1970

You get what you pay for! I have been using hostgator for about a year now (shared reseller). I would recommend them highly. I'm thinking of switching to a dedicated server from them. The uptime is great, the service is great, the features are great.
My experience has been very positive the whole time and my quality of life is much improved since I switched to them. Before that, I was using cheap hosting companies (zoneserv and turnkey resellers), both of which were a constant nightmare of downtime, hacked servers, and more forms of unreliability than i can count!
I have with hostgator 4 months now, and everything is working great.

Their support is excellent, in fact non of my tickets took them more than 15 minutes to get responded (Of course non of them contains any critical problem, but still the response was very good), and they have real 24/7 chat support.
I wouldn't say their reseller plans are expensive, in fact I find them cheap, because of its added value. With the plan you get a WHMAP License, ENOM reseller account and some other things, so I think it is worth the money.
If you will start a hosting business, those added features will be very helpfull... I really recommend you HG.
Of course there are other very good hosts out there, ResellerZoom has worked fine for me too, even when I have only a few days with them. And despite some uptime problems I had with Eagerhost lately I still think they are very good, and I would recommend them too. Hope it helps, greettings!

I have been hosting with hostgator for around a couple of months now, and have a couple of domains with them. I don't have much time to type this up as I am fairly busy with work, but I felt I owe them a thankyou for the awesome service I receive from the 2 domains I have hosted with them.
I have a fairly active forum with no less than 30 active members browsing the boards at any time, and they sure are quick to complain if anything goes down. During the time I have been with hostgator I have had ZERO downtime, and my forum has been consistently fast. I have had no problems during my stay so far, and HG even went to the trouble of installing an SSL cert for free for me as I didn't have the funds in my PayPal account. Hostgator, I salute you. They truelly know what they are doing, their support is consistent and rapid and their servers maintained incredibly well. Thankyou for providing me with an honest, efficient and excellent service. I really am glad I chose hostgator and have no problem in fully commending them to anyone I meet.

Host Gator must have been an angel in disguise who arrived just when I needed it. I was having problems updating my billing info and such at my old host. One of my websites ended up getting shut down, because I couldn\'t update my billing info. I signed up for a couple of packages from Host Gator, thinking I would also look around for another host for some of my other websites. Once I found Host Gator had super customer service, and I mean fast and dedicated, I moved most of my websites into baby gator accounts. Once I moved my client sites as well, I found that I wanted to go with a dedicated server with my own 18 websites. After shopping around for different hosting services, I settled on HostGator based on what I've read on web hosting jury. I have to say I have not been disappointed. HostGator has excellent service - both customer and technical. I always get directly connected to their support services when I need help. I've never had to wait longer than 30 seconds. I also love their plans. 5GB of space, 75GB bandwidth, unlimited domains, 24/7 service. It is actually well more than enough for the 11 domains I currently have with my hosting plan.

Awesome service and support! Although it's been only a few months they have been great. I've requested a few server changes and help with set-up on a few occasions and I was able to reach someone immediately and they made all changes within 15 minutes. They're cheap - I couldn't find 5 gigs anywhere else for $10/month, and they offer more features than any of the "big guys." I need to have a lot of streaming multimedia, and it's no problem with them! Lots of users logging in, lots of e-mail accounts. It's great!
You get unlimited e-mails, can host unlimited domains on one account, unlimited sub-domains, mysql, fantastico ... seriously, if you want it, you probably get it!
I was with GoDaddy.com before. They SUCK!!! Sure, they're cheap, but you don't get much space. They even tried to tell me what mailing list services I was "allowed" to use to send newsletters to my OWN employees and contractors who were using the e-mail addresses I had PAID EXTRA for through them. Pathetic! If you're running a business ... stay the heck away from GoDaddy. They think they have a right to tell you how to run it. If you like being respected, and receiving lots of useful extras, stick with HostGator!

HostGator has been a good host. Sure there have been some server problems, but HostGator always refunds me for downtime, and does a lot better job of letting people know what's going on than other hosts do.

HostGator is awesome! Pay the extra money for their services. Their online support is always available to help if you have a problem. As soon as I had a question I went on and had an answer in under 5 seconds. Absolutely phenominal. Was previously with Xanthion Hosting but was treated VERY rudely. I will never use another hosting company. Do yourself a favor and save a lot of hassle, get an account with HostGator.

I was recommended to go to hostgator by a friend of mine, who had been hosting with a company I was with. He told me, Ken, they have actual 24/7 live support. I personally didn't believe him, but they do.
I did have a little bit of trouble with one of the technicians, but not because they didn't try.
but last night, I couldn't get something to work on my site and it was 2:00 a.m. and tech support 'monica' stayed with me on the live chat until we had it hammered out.
I will come back and do a followup on this in a month or so.

I've been with hostgator for 5 months now. I'm on my computer at least 70 hours a week and hostgator support is always logged in for chat support. I have only had one instance of downtime and it was for about minutes. When I IM'd support they were there and got my sites back up in no time. The service is excellent the speed and reliabillity of the servers is awesome and the price is more than reasonable, I wont be looking for a new host any time in the fore seeable future.

Overall price to value ratio is hard to beat. Performace is excellent, twice as fast as last host on both upload and download. Just ping their domain and compare with some others. Reliability has been very good. There have been a few occurences of downtime, but they were brief (at least on our server) and support is usually quick to respond. Speaking of support, it is usually very good in terms of email or phone, but don't try to use chat support, you'd probably be disappointed with that as I believe it is outsourced to others. Give them a try, you will probably be glad you did. If you're not, they have a money back guarantee for 30 days I belive and they actually do stand behind the 99.9% uptime with a full refund of the months fee if they fail to meet it.

My two sites have been on one of their servers for over a year now. Personally I couldn't ask for much more out of a host. The server has been stable, with just a few short downtimes caused by attacks or malfunctioning scripts (nothing that they could prevent).
All such situations were dealt with properly, in a timely manner. I only needed to contact support (live on MSN) on those special occasions to ask what was happening. Otherwise the server was working fine so I had no reason to contact them for server related problems.
I remember that I did send an email to support once and I got an email back in some 5 minutes. Even though I didn't actually asked something out of them so no actual support was rendered (I was just trying to contact the owner) I remember that I was quite impressed by the timely answer.
In all, I'm very happy with the service. If things continue like this I see no reason why I would ever need to go with another host.

After suffering through major downtime with my previous host, I decided to move to a new host, thus I found HostGator. I've only been with them for about two months but so far, the experience has left me satisfied with my decision. I've moved two of my domains wtih their service already. They have an incredibly helpful support system, answering your ticket within 24 hours. They have been reliable and everything you could ask for in a host. I gave them a four because I have only been with them for two months. However, I think I'm finally satisfied with this host and I'm ready to settle in for the next few years.

Ive been with alot of hosts in my younger day's (ehost,canaca, ipowerweb just to name a few) and eventually worked my way up to multiple server's at the planet. I keep an account with hostgator for backups and domain forwarding and basically just for me to toy with. Ive got the 15 dollar plan with unlimited domains. I just wanted to let everyone here know I couldnt expect more from a webhost.
When I first got the account I somehow killed a proccess on my home pc that wasnt allowing me to ftp to the site. Not thinking correctly I thought it was on there end, after me nearly getting rude with them and canceling my account I went out on a limb and rebooted my home machine. Sure enough it was on my end but the entire time they stayed respectful and offered as much help as possible.
Live Support seems like it is always online, the couple support tickets ive created always get a fast response. My account was overdue and suspended when I woke up this morning (due to account being linked to a credit card I cancelled this month). At 7:16 I payed and at 7:20 it was back online. Now this account gets very minimal traffic as im really the only one accessing this domain but still shows how serious they take this buisness.
If anyone is looking for a low-budget high quality host use hostgator. Ive yet to see them drop the ball.

" I've now been around 5 months with HostGator.com with the Baby package. 2GB space and 20GB bandwith/month for $9,99.
I must say i am very satisfied with their customer support. They support all message programs like AOL and MSN. And they actually do have an 24/7 MSN support open, for real. I found out that the Live Chat persons knew alot less then the Tech support on MSN or email.
As to my knowledge i had 2 times a downtime (tracked by siteuptime.com). I think the connection with the server is sometimes a bit slow. Download speeds going at 50 ~ 60 kb/s with a 140kb/s connection happens very often. Sometimes i even get 15kb/s while my connection is correct and is able to do more.
Well.. i'm not very good at writing reviews but anyway, the conclusion is:
HostGator.com is a great host with good support. For the average user is the perfect choice. Sometimes bit slow connections but the support compensates that. "

Account Setup
I sent my account request in the morning (GMT). My account was setup within an hour.
Next day, I requested WHMAP to be installed. After several mails back & forth in which I discused the fine points of WHMAP with their support tech, I got my link to WHMAP.
I tried to install it, but due to some problems with my FTP, I couldn't. So, I asked them to install it for me and paid them 25$.
They installed it and got back to me with the link within half an hour!
Support
I usually contact the Live Support as its quick. I've found my experience much beter than many others here, prolly because they changed their staff. All my small queries about WHMAP were handled prompty and they were very helpful.
I've also sent them tickets once or twice and mostly they're answered within 15 mins. Only once it took half an hour or 45 mins.
Uptime & Quality Of The Servers
The Uptime has been 100% so far.
Their server load has always been very low. At present it is 0.33 . The speed has been really good.
Conclusion
Till now, its been a great journey! I would like to thank the HostGator staf! You guys rock! I would recommend them to everyone who needs a good reseller.
I hope to continue with them for a long time
